Flight ticket reimbursement by employer

After my H1B visa dropbox appointment in India, the US Embassy took over 20 days to process my application, due to which I had to reschedule my return flight. Overall, this resulted in me spending more than $2000 on flights.

I am curious mobdro kodi to know whether it's reasonable to request my employer to reimburse me for the flight ticket costs associated with my visa process. Has anyone else here succeeded in obtaining reimbursement for visa-related flights from their employer?
