221(g) yellow form during H1B Visa stamping

Friends i'm sharing one of my friends exprience with 221(G) yellow slip @ Hyd:

July 11th:

Attended visa interview in Hyderabad on July 11th and got 221g yellow slip to submit additional project description and all petitioner info ... submitted all the docs the same day and awaiting for the processing to finish ...

Aug 15th:

Heard through his attorney via the state senators involvement that the petition is being sent back to USCIS for revocation. USCIS decision might take months, so instead of waiting got his H4 and flying back next Tuesday to pursue the case from there …

Does that mean when H1 case in under progress, he went ahead, attended H4 interview and fly back to US on H4?

don't worry guys, you will get your 221G clear soon. its just a matter of difficult time of 2 - 3 weeks.
Just keep faith.

Here's my experience I am sharing:
H1B stamping 3 year extension after I-140 approval.

Interview Date: Oct 25, 2011
221G: Yellow Slip "Admin Processing" no docs asked at Mumbai consulate.

Clearance: Nov 10th, CEAC barcode appeared on Mumbai Consulate website.
No email received.

Passport Submitted to VFS: Nov 21st (Since consulate was closed Nov 15 - 18)

Passport Received: Nov 29th (Took 5 business days)

On Stamped Visa: It says "Annotation: Clearance received Nov 10, 2011"

totally lost

Got 221g yellow slip with no additional documents required at Mumbai on 6th Jan 2012... dont know how long I have to wait...

No documents Kept by VO

During my interview for New H1b - I got 221g yellow slip with no documents asked.
Also the VO did not keep any of my documents like 797 or passport. All documents are with me; is that a bad sign? I read that for lot of people the VO kept i797 with him/her after the interview.

Please advise !

I had my interview in Mumbai on 29th November. Visa officer is said Visa is granted but he cannot accept my passport right then. I gave me a yellow slip 221g that states my case is in admin processing.

No documents are asked, my passport and all documents are with me. I am waiting since then. Its been 6+ weeks

Lemme know if you have any information this way we can stay in touch and help each other out

waiting for 7 months

I had an interview for l1b indivisual on 1 june 2011 and got 221g blue slip. we submitted docs on 1st week of august and still waiting and its under additional admin processing in chennai consulate.
I am waiting for 7 months. What are the chances of getting visa now?

This 221g is a real nightmare. I went through this ordeal when I last visited India.

Interview Date - 14 Dec 2010. (221g pink slip issued, Chennai Consulate)
Visa Issue Date - 18 Sep 2011.

Yes! I waited for 9 long months! In the mean time, I contacted them numerous time. They just kept replying the standard auto-mail. Luckily my employer retained me and I was able to come back.

Looks like, if your case is FBI name check, and they are not able to clear your name electronically, then they resort to manual methods and it takes forever!

From my analysis, I found that around 10% of applicants get this dreaded 221g and out this 90% of the cases get clear inside 3 months. If your case is pending for more than 4 months, then you might me in for a long wait. Only god knows when it will get cleared.

My advice - Have a back up plan ready when going to India for vacation and needing visa renewal!

I'm working for a consulting company and they have filed for my h1b. They upgraded it to premium processing because I have to go to India on short notice.
I'm looking for guidance on what documents I should take with me and any kind of advice that would help my stamping to go smoothly. Is it really a risk for consultants to get their visas stamped?

I also received yellow form at mumbai consulate with no additional documents asked. I am still waiting for my CEAC number to appear on the list. My visa interview date was Jan 4th 2012.
