Wow..I wish they understood how necessary it is to bring in some changes to their admin processing model...
My friend got his Visa approved after 9 months....so hopefully you'll hear something pretty soon....
Hope for the best...do keep us informed if you get any updates...

    • Just curious to know which consulate handled your friend's case? Which year? Which color of 221g?

        His details follow:-

        Petition filed in: Nov'10
        Approved in: Mar'11
        Interview: May'11, Chennai.
Admin Processing: 221g-Pink (was asked to sign a paper containing the answers he gave and was also asked to give the details of his family members).
        221g Cleared in: Feb'12

The guy was so unlucky that he got a H1b valid for 30 odd days. He got things moving immediately and travelled 3weeks before visa expiry date to the US expecting it to be extended, but he was informed that he should have come atleast one month before visa expiry date....he came back and has been working for an European client since...

              • One of my colleague was also going through this 221g ordeal. Came to know this evening that he got through. Here are his details.

                Interview Date : 6th March, 2012 @ Mumbai Consulate.
221g Yellow slip issued with no reason mentioned.
                Case : L1B Extension

Email from consulate received on 9th July 2012.
PP received with visa stamp on 13th July 2012.

Whats interesting is his bar code doesnt show in case status report till now.

Just curious.....any idea which sequence these numbers follow...I mean is there a way you can relate them to the year/month of Interview?
By the way, I am gonna complete 3weeks tomorrow...looks like I have a loooong way to go....

                    • You can not derive anything out of these numbers but just an approximation as to around which time period they belong to. These numbers are generated when you submit your DS-160 for confirmation.

However these numbers are generated in a sequence .. AA001 YYYY to AA001Z YYYY and then it starts with AA0011 YYYY to AA0019 YYYY . I submitted my DS-160 in Feb 2012 and sequence number was AA0024 YYYY .

So If I see AA001 sequence I assume these are old cases (nov, Dec 2011) and any number like AA0025, AA0026 will be mostly of later than Feb.

                      • Visa norms eased for US visitors - times of india

MUMBAI: The US embassy has eased visa application norms for Indians wishing to visit the US.In a move aimed to provide relief to Indians wishing to travel to the US for business and leisure, the US embassy has eased visa application norms.

According to the new rules, children under seven do not have to appear for a non-immigrant visa interview after their visa forms are submitted. While re-applying for visas, people will not have to pay visa fee again if their previous requests had been kept on hold or shown pendingfor various reasons under section 221g of US visa rules. With the consulate opening almost 42 windows, the waiting time for visa interviews has also been reduced to an hour, instead of the earlier three hours.

The consulate has upgraded their emergency appointment module under which applicants will receive an automated email, notifying them the status of their requests. The consulate shared the information at an interactive session with travel agents. tnn, some whom were also members of Visit-USA committee at the consulate office in the BKC.

                        • The latest case report is available on mumbai consulate website now.

2 case numbers appeared with AA0024 sequence recently (I am interested because mine is AA002463--)
                          AA0024CQ8X - on July 18th
                          AA0024PDQT - on July 20th

Now whats interesting is these 2 case numbers have already appeared before as below ..
                          AA0024CQ8X - on April 17th and
                          AA0024PDQT - on May 25th

Anyone with any idea why is it so? can these be the cases of multiple yellow forms?

                          • question on submitting pp

I got green slip which says after CEAC bar code appears on the website, submit the CEAC barcode token affixed on your passport with green slip. There was nothing affixed to the passport, the token was taken away during the interview. Does it mean that I have to attached a copy of DS160 or the copy of the CEAC after it appears on the website? Any suggestion will be helpful

The token affixed on the passport usually contains the CEAC bar code + your token number issued during the interview.
Perhaps, you can attach a copy of the Appointment Confirmation+a copy of HDFC fee reciept+a copy of DS-160 Confirmation page.
I dont remember them asking for DS-160 any time after it was filled out and submitted on the CEAC website.

Hope you make it through admin processing quickly.

I went to Hyd consulate for H1B stamping in the first week of June-2012. The Interview went fine and VO took my passport and said nothing. I received my passport after 3 days and I found that there is no visa stamped and there was a refusal letter attached which is not with my name.
When I contacted CONSULATE with via email, i got a response that my case is under admin processing and ignore the wrong refusal letter. I'm not sure what kind of Admin processing they are doing on my visa.

From then after 15 days, USCIS inquired my details at my client location. My client responded positively.
Its been 7 weeks from the date of stamping, I dont know my case number and I’m not sure how long my case will take to get out of the admin processing. Please suggest.
Your CEAC DS-160 confirmation barcode should be your primary link for finding your details. May be you can talk to VFS help center and see if it helps.
Admin processing is quite painful....I've read a lot posts in this forum...a few got through in 2 days, a few in 2 weeks and a few in a couple of months....and a few of the unlucky applicants have been waiting for more than 3-4 months....Its almost 4weeks since I've been refused a H1B...
Our cases are genuine...so lets hope for the best...
