Hi,
I went for my visa stamping along with my wife and my US born child (10 months old) today at the Chennai consulate. I work for a well known company in US and hence there was no questions asked regarding my employment. I was asked if my baby was a US citizen to which I replied yes. I was then told that my visa has been approved while my wife has been put on 221(g) and they gave me the pink slip. We are muslims and hence I guess they are going to do additional background verification for my wife.
I would like to know if any one is (or was) in a similar situation and how long it took for them to get their visa approved. I would appreciate if you could share your experience. I already planned my return trip to US in a month's time and I would like to know if 4 weeks is enough for the background check to be finished. I will have make changes to my schedule accordingly.
Thanks!
