H4 re-stamping on renewed H1 petition?

Hello all,
I have got my H1 B extension but my wife's H4 renewal has not come yet.
I am planning to travel to India now and will have to get our visas re-stamped before entering to US.
My question is whether my wife will be able to get her H4 restamped on my new H1 petition even if her approval has not come from USCIS?
Earlier i thought the dependents do not get new petition number but now i found out that for extension they do get a new number.
So is it alright if we travel to India and get our visas restamped based on my extension?

Your wife can get her H4 stamped based on your renewed H1B approval notice (You both can go for stamping together). However, if her H4 extension gets approved with a new I-94, then she will end-up having two I-94 (Including the one that she gets at the POE) and she will need to determine when her H4 status will actually expire based on the last action rule.
