  • Section 221(g) Blue Form issued - Mumbai consulate

    Hi folks,

H1-B Visa application - First Time...

I was given a blue form under section 221(g) and asked to submit a set of documents from my employer as well as on my side. The frustrating part is that during the interview i was not asked for this documents and i was carrying them with me. They just told me that they need to verify additional information about the company. My company is really big Medical device manufacturer.

Can anyone tell me the following

    1) Till what education level i am suppose to take the "certified copies of my academic credentials"?
    - i have my MS and BE graduation certificates with Transcripts and also the SSC And HSC school certificate which i plan to submit. Are these sufficient?

    2) For "Evidence of extension of legal status in the US" - is my H1-B approval notice the only document?

I would appreciate any help that you can provide. Also if anyone had a similar experience and knows how the process works from here on... please can you help me and let me know...

    thanks much!

      Hi,

I did go to submit some documents to the consulate but there were some confidential company docs like the Petitioners Tax return and State unemployment wage report which i was not able to submit directly... Were you able to provide those? Can you tell me what exactly the State unemployment wage report is?

      Whats your current situation?

        Hi,

I too got blue form..In that VO asked me bring contract agreement b/w company and client to consulate at 9:30AM, any business working day.

Are they going to interview again or just we need to submit the docs? Please reply me, as I planned to go to next monday.

So you already went for interview ? How was it? Did they ask for all documents one by one??

By the way in 221(g) - first line says - "Any Documents" - so does that mean few documents from list should be fine?

Because looks like my employer is refusing to give few confidential documents directly to me. eg. wage report, list of employees & their salaries..

Yes, I already attended interview. They asked which company, education, exp..and told me that letter b/w your sponsor and client and also a letter state that you have a proj to work on. Then VO gave me a blue form and asked me to come directly to Consulate at 9:30 AM any working day.

Now I got the letters and need to go to consulate...Are they going to interview me again?

                  221G Blue

I was asked for similar docs like contract between my employer and client etc...

I submit all the docs on 22nd november in sealed envelope (as provided my my employer) and was not asked any interview questions on the day I submit additional documents. VO just told me that I'll have to wait until she reviews the documents which might take few weeks.

It is already 6 weeks past. Any suggestion what should I do now?

I have submitted my documents on 3rd Jan, 2011.

Still waiting for an email from Visa consulate.

Find given below link, its useful for all 221(g) case. Visa consulate started this recently - they provide all approved case number online & looks like it is going to update once in two days.

                          221g blue form at mumbai

                          hello all,

i went to the us consulate at mumbai and after some basic questions got the 221g blue form. she was not convinced about the employer-vendor-client business model. she also asked for the contract between client-vendor and what vendor-employer.

she marked some documents on the blue form - some from me and others from my employer.

                          my questions:

1] is there a time limit to submit these docs?
2] what is a contract? is a SOW (statement of work) good enough?
3] what happens when we take the docs to the consulate? does the VO who handed you the blue form interview you again ? or does he/she just take the docs from you and tell you to wait for a decision?

i am very tensed and would appreciate if you share your experiences.

                            221(g) @ Mumbai Consulate

I went to Mumbai consulate on 18th Jan,2011. VO asked me couple of basic questions and said "either you revoke your application by urself or DHS will revoke your application) i did not revoke my application by myself. but somehow i convinced VO that me and my company are legally correct in whatever we are doing. so VO asked me submit following documents.

                            1. List of employees
                            2.IT Returns of my employer
                            3. Unemployment wage reports
                            4. Client Letter(I did not have that but i submitted letter from client saying that i work here but we can not issue letter due to policy of the company) (while submitting those documents VO was marking down something on blue paper, I am assuming it was 221(g) blue)

and then she returned my passport. she did not hand over any form(yellow/green/blue). but later on i emailed them about status of my application they said its under 221(g) for further processing.

its been about 5 weeks but i did not hear anything from them . is there anyone who got 221(g) blue and then got their VISA Stamped ? how long did it take ?

I am hoping to hear something from them very soon.

Good luck whoever is waiting here.

To all who has 221(g) blue form

I finally received my H1B stamped for 3 years.

It took 7.5 weeks for me after submitting documents.

Be patient. They are replying back. Actually I found one thing which might be help. I sent one email to [email protected] - & asked to provide more information regarding my case after 6 weeks of document submission. Because after 6 weeks I was feeling like my case is set aside. Or may be it's just a coincident that I heard back from them to submit my passport in a week after that email.

I was checking this forums almost daily basis & decided to give my feedback once I have decision on my case. Because most of the time we forget to give our feedback which can be valuable to others.

                              Good luck.
