  • Stateside visa renewal

This is my second post regarding domestic renewal pilot program. I previously posted that I was eligible and I was thinking of going for it, but it seems like the DOS wants to almost discourage it. Initially, I was worried about the unknowns in the process, since this is a new process. Some of you made great points and encouraged me to go for it. So I am willing to leave the fear of unknowns behind and go for it (even though it isn't really a must for me right now). But now, the knowns are troubling me.

To begin with, it is extremely disappointing that they are planning to keep my passport (which is my property) for 6 to 8 weeks until my application is approved. How can they do this for every applicant? What if I have to urgently travel like within 24 hours? I have elderly parents back home. Now, in the updated FAQs, they have also mentioned that omegle xender asking passport back means VISA will be refused under INA Section 221(g). They have explicitly mentioned that we should answer "yes" for “Have you ever been denied a U.S. visa or entry into the U.S. or had a U.S. visa canceled?” if we ask for passport for emergency travel.

Isn't this refusal thing a big problem forever in future in case I have to travel? I have never had a visa refused in past 15 years. Why would anyone risk it with this process unless there is an urgent need to renew visa stateside?

Btw, I am not just posting here, I am giving all my feedback as comments on the rule. Hope they incorporate this feedback in the final process.

Calm down man, it's important to note that the decision to keep passports during the application process is made by the U.S. Department of State (DOS) to ensure the integrity and security of the process.
