PIMS System and Chennai Consulate.

My interview was on 22nd Dec. in Chennai Consulate and after couple of questions the VO said my visa is approved and as my petition is not available in PIMS system it might take 4-5 days to return my passport with visa. Now it has been more than 15 days am yet to get back my passport.

Should i have to call VFS Chennai or should i have to call the consulate, on this issue?

Please advice.

Pims verification

I had my visa appt on Dec27th.VO said my visa is approved and I will receive my pp in 2 days.I still don't have my PP.Called chennai counsulate and they are saying its awaiting PIMS verification and they cannot give me a time frame.I was suppose to travel back tomorrow and now my personal and professional life has become a mess.I was wondering why they didn't mention anythng at the time of interview and also worried about the time frame of this verification.I am calling them on a daily basis as they said they won't contact me once its approved.

So are you calling the US Consulate or the VFS in chennai? Where can we find the contacts for the consulate?

I am in the same boat. Visa interview on Dec 21. VO said visa approved and due to PIMS issue I will receive my PP in 5-7 days. Still no updates. Already changed my travel plans . no time frame given by Chennai consulate([email protected]). let me know if you guys received any updates.

counsulate number is 04428574242 and press 1 for english and then just wait for the service representative.( Don't go through the nonimmigrant visa section)

Thanks Visa11. I just called the number and spoke to the rep. She said there are no updates in my case and consulate is still waiting on PIMS update . This wait is just frustrating.

Not sure if PIMS matters since we have the original approved I-797 and VO already checked it. Stupid US immi policies.

In the same situation. Visa Interview on Dec 22, 2010, approved. But in PIMS Verification... waiting for the passport...Is there anyway to track it using the case id on the blue 221g form?

I called the consulate again this afternoon and they said the verification is almost complete and I can expect an answer by next week.I will keep u all updated

VFS updated said I can collect my passport today b/w 16.00 and 17.00.Any update on others?
It took 9 working days for me to complete PIMS verification.

VFS website had updated the staus and said that passport can be collected between 16 and 17 hrs with HDFC reciept and interview appointment letter, or else it will be automatically dispatched by courier.

Yeah, i am getting the similar status today. Hopefully, i should receive the passport by tomorrow.

h1-b approved but passport not received

Congratulations, good to hear that u got back your passports.


I had ma interview on jan 4th but yet to receive the passport. Interviewer said visa is approved and i will get the passport but so far i have not.

I was not issued any forms nor did he tell me that my petition is not available in PIMS, i have no idea why it is stuck. In consulate site it says "passport under processing with us embassy/consulate"......Any idea what is going on ??

I called BEP help desk but they do not have any updates for me.........any suggestions from your end would be greatly appreciate , Thanks

PIMS delay - Chennai

I had my interview on the 4th of Jan 2011 at the Chennai consulate. Visa was approved however, I got dinged with the PIMS not updated - the PIMS verification delay.... It's been 7 working days and I called the consulate today - No news as yet. She said I have to wait. This is highly frustrating...

Anyone else stuck with this??.... Keep us posted....
