PIMS delay - Chennai

I had my Visa interview for H1B renewal on the 4th of Jan 2011 at the Chennai consulate..... My visa was approved however I got dinged with the petition not found on the PIMS database. It's been 7 working days, haven't got my PP as yet.

I called the consulate, the lady told me that it is still not updated in the PIMS database and that I need to wait for another 3-4 days.... this is highly frustrating.... Anyone else who applied in the first week of Jan 2011 still waiting?

Any one has any ideas to get around this, coz honestly it's ridiculous to keep us waiting for no reason.....

did the interviewer told you abt PIMS issue ???? how did u get to know abt this??

I was told visa is approved but passport is stuck with consulate ....its been 7 working days :-(.........i have no clue y it is stuck ..........

even my organization immigration team has no clue they asked me to wait....

this is so painful and worisome and i do not even know the reason for the delay :-)..............i was suppose to fly 19th but doesnt look like i will :-(

Yes, Mine was a PIMS deal.... I got news that it was approved on friday... So about 8 working days!! I am surprised they are taking that long.

Try can call the Dept of State and stae your case. They shouldn't be taking this long without giving you a valid reason. That's brutal.

My wife went to her Visa interview on Dec2nd 2010 and the officer said the Visa was approved. We freaking havent got anything yet. It is extremely brutal. We do not get any answers back from the consulate other than that my Petition details arent available in the PIMS database. I got my H1 stamped last year on the same petition, and now my wife's h4 on my petition is getting delayed because they do not have my petition details????? What kind of a joke is this? if my petition details werent there in their PIMS database, how the hell was i granted an H1 Visa??????

It is ridiculous how these folks work. We need to unite and go in the media regarding this process. Dont i have a right of information to know what is going on?

Can someone please advice on what is the next step? I was adviced by someone in passing that i can contact my Congressmen of state or senator of state. i am not sure baout this. But i will try that too.

Successfull H1B Interview in Chennai, but not yet received passport

Hi All,

I had H1B interview at chennai Consulate on feb 1st 2011. Interview went fine and VO dint give me any colored slip. He told me that my Visa was approved and I should receive the passport in a week's time. When I check the status of my passport online, it says

"your passport is under process under U.S Embassy/Consulate if your visa had been approved."

I am seeing the same message from the day 1 after interview. Not sure what causes this delay! I have postponed my travel now..Based on my previous experince with chennai consulate on B1 and L1 visa, i had received the passport in 2-3 days. Why H1B is taking more time?

Anybody in the same boat? Any resolution found? please share.

My passport has been dispatched to VFS for delivery. I was really worried as to why I wan not getting passport after successful stamping in chennai. Yesterday, I wrote a mail to the consulate and today my passport was dispatched.

H1B Visa Stamping

I went for stamping in Chennai Consulate on Feb 1st 2011. VO told my visa got aproved and will receive passport with in a week. Still i haven't receive my passport. how to contact chennai consulate to get info about my passport status.
