Looking for some insight regarding my situation here.

I’m on H1B, but need to obtain a stamp from a US Consolate abroad. Lawyer has already advised against obtaining a stamp in any other country outside of my home country (Let’s call my home country “country X”) - because initially I’d thought to obtain it somewhere close like MX or Canada.

I have an important international event to attend in December, and therefore need the stamp so I am exploring my options given the current administration.

I have all of the valid H1B supporting documents I’d need for my interview in my country, but my worry is re-entering the states especially because my country, is on the proposed ban list - the yellow category (if my country does not address the US security concerns within 60 days) https://speedtest.vet/https://vidmate.bid/

If I were to travel, I’d wait for the green light (if my country is no longer on that list) but even then, I’d prefer to proceed with caution.

I’ve seen some H1B workers leave and re-enter the country smoothly, but would love some insight given my current situation.

The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows U.S. employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations. These occupations typically require a higher level of education, such as a Corporate Travel bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field like IT, engineering, medicine, or business.
