  • Training Scholarship from Client

    Hello,
I am on my H1-B visa working for a client who has corp-corp with my employer. Recently i finished a few certifications that i had associated to my client company. As a result they are offering me a cash incentive or training scholarship that is greater than $1000. However my client is asking me whether he can provide me a w9 form which i have the claim during my 2011 tax returns, he also gave me another option where i can ask him to send the check to my employer who would then include that in my payroll.
Although i prefer getting the check from my client directly I am not sure if i can do so because of my visa status. Please kindly advise which option can i pick to make sure that I would not have any issues in the future
    Thanks in advance

Get it from your employer. Safe and legal.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
