H1-B extension receipt

Hi,I received my H1-B extension receipt number from my employer.Is it just the number or a document sheet from USCIS with receipt number?Do I have ask my employer for original receipt from USCIS?

Receipt notice is a document that USCIS send to confirm that they have received your petition. It will contain a number to track your case online. If you don't trust that your employer gave you the correct receipt number, then you can ask them to give you a copy.

Thanks a lot!I actually needed a copy,as i am sponsoring my mother-in-laws visitor visa & she need to carry that to the interview.
