I need your help in understanding my H1 situation.
I am currently on H1 B and my 6 year quota will expire around May 2012. My current employer has initiated the green card process and currently the I -140 is approved with a priority date of July, 2007. I am pursuing an MBA and intend to change jobs (this will mean a change in job description from IT consulting to Management Consulting) and my employer this fall (around September, 2011). Based on my understanding of the H1 visa process I believe that the new employer has to file for a new H1. I was wondering whether the upcoming 6 year quota will have any adverse implications on the H1 that the new employer will need to file. Also, during the time the new employer is filing for the new H1 and the approval is awaited will I be able to stay in the US based on the current H1.
Thanks for your help,
Biju
