H1B Transfer without SSN/Paystubs

Hi,
I did search the archives but still not clear on this one.
I reached NJ two days back and dont have an SSN and no paystub yet.
My first company is a consulting one.
Can I get a H1B transfer done if I get a offer for a fulltime opportunity with my current status?
I am still looking for a client assignment.

Can try. Used to work in the past if done within a week of entry into US. After that, you will need paystubs.

I wish we can change this concept - and not get into this mess

without ssn or pay stubs - lot of RFE's
