  • How long will I get H1 after I stayed for 4 yrs on L1?

    Hi,

I have completed 4 yrs on L1 and now my employer is converting the visa to H1 on "change of status" (means L1 will expired on the day, when the new H1 is effective, irrespective of L1 original expiring date)

My question: will I get 6 more years on my new H1 or just the 2 years as I have already spent 4 years?

    P.S: I haven't applied for GC yet.

    Thanks

2 years. L1 + H1B in total is for 6 years. In order to get a fresh 6 year term on your H1B, you need to spend 1 year outside U.S.
