  • admin processing and passport returned after 90 days

    hello,

I have come to india (Kolkata embassy) for H1-B stamping, initially I was on my F1 visa.
At the time of my visa interview the consulate person took my passport and all my H1 documents and said they need more time in reviewing them.
After 90 days when I followed up with a call to department of state and emailed Kolkata US embassy I was sent back my passport without any stamping but all my documents were retained.

Did this happen to anyone else, how shall I proceed with this ?
Is my VISA rejected or is it still under admin processing ?
    Please suggest.
P.S I'm still working under the same client from India.

    Any suggestions would help.

If your visa was rejected, then they would have send you a letter mentioning the reason for rejection. It looks like your case is still under admin process. Oncethe admin process gets completed, they will ask you to send your back for stamping (That is if the admin process is successful).

Thanks Shervin, but do you think its a good idea for me to follow up regularly with the embassy on this or I need to wait till I get a call back from them.

You can follow up. Most of the time you will get the standard reply that the application is under admin processing.
