  • H1B Transfer Receipt Notice (I797C) (Urgent)

    Hi,

I have a question related to H1B Transfer Receipt Notice (I797C), for the Beneficiary field.

Below is a Brief intro about my History.
    1. I was on EAD (L2) from May2009 to Sep2010 (Got the A# Num)and was working for Company A on EAD during this time.
    2. EAD was expired, and I got my H1 approved through Company A since Oct 2010.
    3. Now, I am transferring my H1 from Company A to Company B.

When I got the receipt for H1B Transfer, I am seeing my expired A# Number in the field of Beneficiary along with my name in form I797C...

I am surprised to see that expired number over there, I am not sure whether it was a mistake while filing for transfer or was it intentional. And also, this was not there in the form I797C when I got my first H1. Can you please share if any of you have similar experiences... Thankyou....

I guess you are talking about the I-94 number. The I-94 number will be the same. Your employer or the attorney would have received I-797A from USCIS which will have a new I-94 attached (I-94 number will be the same number as the previous expired one, but with a new expiry date) which will determine until when you can legally stay and work in the country.
Not a legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

You are talking about A# on your expired EAD. It is not EAD number, it is your own unique ID number. A# is alien number which USCIS uses to refer to aliens. It is alright that the number is on your receipt notice.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
