passport renewal sent to wrong consulate

My passport will expire in August and I have sent it for renewal to the wrong consulate.

I was suppose to sent it to Houston but I sent it to Chicago.

Will they sent me back my passport or will they direct to to Houston?

How long usually the process takes?

Yes, They will return back to you, alllow 2weeks max, I sent my passport to right consulate San Francisco - CA and I provided my DL copy of NY , they returned my package in 1week and even called me too that provide proof of address of California only , that time I sent just electricity and gas bills it's accepted my 2nd trial for my passport renewal @ San francisco california.
