  • Passport turnaround time after case processed

    Hi,

I have attended my H1B renewal interview on 8th sep 2010 at hyd consulate and was put under admin processing. Now after around 7 months on 30th march 2011 the case status on the consulate site shows "Case Processed" and there is also a response date shown there as 28 March 2010.
I have researched in many forums and seen people with similar scenarios have got there passport in around 3 business days after there case was processed but in my case it is already 7 days and i have not recieved my passport. The status on the consulate site still shows as processed.
Another thing is that i have also recieved an email on 1st April 2011 from NAS VISAS ( National Acadmeies of Sciences) that they are informed by DOS that the processesing in my case is completed and visa issued.

My questions is, as per the NAS email if the visa is issued on 1st April itself then why hyd consulate is taking so long to return my passport? and what is actual turnaround time for the passport to be returned?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

    Thanks!

Your best bet is to call the VFS helpdesk and talk to them. Probably there is a delay in handing over the passport by the consulate to the VFS. 221g is case specific and it is very hard to predict what is really going on.

        Thanks for the reply Shervin!!!

I spoke to VFS and they very simply say that "Passport is still with the consulate" which is very obvious and they don't know anything else. Can i email consulate on this? I am planning to see if i get the passport today or monday and then thinking of emailing the consulate. You think it will help?
