H1B eligibility for non-IT professionals having less than 3 yrs exp

Hi

My employer has initiated H1B processing for me in April 2011. I am from non-IT background and have an exp of 2.8 years in an IT MNC. Can somebody pls confirm whether non-IT professionals having less than 3 yrs exp are eligible for H1B visa, as I have heard that petitions having less than 3 yrs exp are getting rejected this year.

Any pointers to this would be really helpful.

Experience comes into play only if you have a 3 year degree. If you have a 4 year degree that is suitable for the job, experience is not required.
