  • Will prior verification at VFS Chennai help?

My husband is planning to attend his H1B visa Re-stamping interview in June @ Chennai consulate. He has been working in US after finishing MBA(US) for 4.5 years now. Its an EVC model.
I read in some forums that we can submit documents to VFS @ Chennai for prior verificaton so that on the day of visa interview his details would be verified already. and their wont be any delay in the visa decisions?

    Is this true?

Has anyone done this recently ?

What are the documents that he needs to be submitted?

How early should it be submitted?

Can I submit the documents, or does he need to go in person?

How successful have people been doing this?

Please advice.. Your suggestions and advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I never hard of this process @ Chennai consulate. Your best bet is to call the VFS helpdesk and get all the required information from them.

The only prior verification that you can request is to check whether the petition is already in the PIMS system or not (They may or may not tell you that info prior to the visa interview). I am not aware of any other document verification being done at any other U.S consulate. Just that there are few consulates that require the candidates to submit the doucment before the visa interview (Example, Hyderabad), which has nothing to do with what you are asking here.

Thanks sherin for the prompt reply. But ok.. let me say his petition is already on the PIMS system, so what does that mean? Does that mean the visa decision will be made without delay on the day of interview and we can expect a positive reply from the VO?

If the petition is already in the PIMS system, then it will just avoid the PIMS delay. However, there can be 221g's issued for additional documents, TAL, Common name check or for additional administrative processing which you will come to know only during the visa interview.

Check the experiences posted by other who have got 221g in the below thread.
