H1B amendment in progress and Travel

Hi,

Please help me on the below questions with my visa amendment.

My H1B extension approved document (I797A) has a spelling mistake on my name (1 letter) and i am suggested to go for an amendment which might take 4 months. Haven't initiated the amendment yet. My question is,

1. Even for name correction, will it take 4 months or it is a simple and fast process ?
2. Can I travel to India once amendment for name correction in progress?
