H1B - Greencard out of US stay question

Hi,

I would like some advice on my situation: I got my I-140 approved a few months ago and am now waiting for my I-485. Till the time I get my I-485 can I stay out of the US for a few months either on a company assignment or on vacation?

Are there any restrictions on:
1. Whether or not I stay out of US?
2. How long can I stay max?
3. Where can I stay? Does it have to be my home country or can it be any country?

Any help would be highly appreciated.
