i-94 is going to expire but h1b still valid

my h1b still have 2 years.
But when i enter U.S., my passport is going to expire in 6 months.
So the officer gave me 6 month on I-94, as well as my wife's H-4.

What should I do?
Do I need to reapply H1b?

Please help me .

Not Required.

Apply for a new passport from your home country's Embassy in the USA.
That should be valid for another 5-10 yrs. (depends on the country's policies).

Then go to CANADA (apply for a CANADIAN tourist visa) and come back to USA. You will be given the new I-94 based on the (new) passport validity. This is what I did recently when coming from my home country.

P.S: while planning for a CANADA trip, make sure to take all your pay stubs, approval letter from INS, Employer letter etc .. You really need them while entering back to USA (from CANADA).

except for reentering, is there any more convenient way?
Because it is risky to go out then back, I'd rather to pay $1000 to lawyer.
