H1B with I485 Pending

Hi All,
My 6 years for H1B will expire this Oct.this year but I already applied for I485 and has been pending since 2007. My question is Do I still need to renew my H1B and would it affect my I485 application if I don't renew it? Any input is highly appreciated. zenith

You can choose to work on EAD (if you have one) or have your employer file H1 for you. Both choices have their own pros and cons and generally it is better to be in H1 status so that your dependents can maintain H4 status.
