H1-B Visa Expiration date issue

I have recently got my H1-B Visa stamped. My Work petition expires on 31, Dec, 2012. But my Visa expiry date is given until 2016. From my understanding, both work petition end date and Visa Expiry date should be same.

Please let me know whether this is a mistake which needs to be corrected or not???

It is probably there mistake, but that does not matter. You can use the Visa as it is. Make sure other details are correct. Visa is only a travel document, it does not allow you to stay or work in the US anyway.
