DS-160 and Passport extension

Hello all,
I am staying in Germany and a company x in usa has sponsored for my husbands h1b visa.it has got approved.now the ocmpany lawers has asked us to file the ds.160 and we also did.they never told us about this i.94 form.My wife has passport expiry till may 2012.
so we applied for new passport in munich after applying DS.160.
We din'T schedule and interview appointment yet with USA consulate.
So can we take the old passport itself to the consulate during interview if my new passport din'T come?
secondly, If my new passport comes can i show that to them and get hte number and expiry date changed?.will they do it?

Your post is very unclear. Is the primary H1B applicant in U.S now or in Germany? You will get an I-94 only when you enter U.S. It is advisable that you attend the vsia interview with the renewed passport. Otherwise the Visa and the I-94 can be issued only till the passport expiry date and not till the petition expiry date. If yuo have scheduled the interview with the old passport, then upon receiving the new passport, you can carry both and the get the visa stamped in the new one.
