H1B visa Extension-Not travelled by the existing visa

Dear Sir,

I had H1B Visa and it was expired on July 2010. But I haven't made any travel to USA by using that H1B Visa. After that my company processed me a L1B which was rejected,
Now my company processing a H1B visa Extension of the previous one (Not Subjected to CAP mode) and petition got approved on august.

In this case, at the time of interview if the VO officer will ask any questions regarding the existing visa "No travel made to US by using that existing visa? It will make any impact in getting new visa :-( Could you please explain.

How to tackle this kind of situation at the time of Visa interview.
What is success rate of this kind vsia extension?
