Hello All,
Finally I received the email from US Consulate Mumbai, asking me to submit my passport. From October 27, 2011 - February 1, 2012. I think this is it and if everything else goes smoothly, hopefully, they have cleared me and ready to issue me the much awaited visa.
I went over and submitted my passport yesterday. Even though they do not mention in the email, a copy of I-797 (H1_B) is also required while submitting the passport. This is in addition to the 221g form with the envelope.

Hi.. I have heard there is no way to track such cases.. The website updates only for yellow slips. My case is also similar but my employer have not sent my passport because it is with me and also it wasnt mentioned in the blue form. They will email you once done
I wanted to ask you... is it normal that the employer send the docs directly to the VFS? Ideally i was supposed to submit the docs but my employer says that the docs are confidential so they have sent it directly.

Now i dont even know if the VFS Mumbai has received the documents or not. Please help me if you have any details abt this issue

you are right. The employer docs are confidential since they include the company tax info, etc. In such cases, they do either of the foll:
a) Submit the reqd docs directly to VFS
b) give u the docs in a sealed envelope and you submit it to VFS w/o opening it.

You can try calling VFS and ask them if they received the docs, Thats the max info they can update you with. Other than this they have no idea. I am not even sure if they open the envelope to verify the docs are what was initially asked.

My employer sent the docs by courier on 2nd Jan, and VFS received it on 6th Jan. Thats the only info they gave me when i called them.

Congratulations. Finally your wait period is over.
I am also waiting from Dec 15th but in between they asked me to submit payslips and 221g documents again on 17th Jan 2012. From then I am waiting.

Did you follow them calling VFS helpline number or VFS helpline email or DOS ?
if yes How often you used to do that? Do you think calling or emailing them will help?
Did they ever asked to submit few extra documents again?

My scenario:
H1B: fresh application for FY 2012
Interview Date: Dec 9th
Documents Submission: Dec 13th

I had emailed [email protected] for any updates regarding my case status on Jan 23rd. I received a reply on Jan 30th saying "As per the US Consulate they have received your documents, however your case is pending for admin processing."

I called DOS and more or less received the same reply.

I mailed VFS once I submitted my documents to confirm if they indeed received them and if there were any updates on my case. It took them 3 working days to reply:

No man. I am still waiting for some kind of response from the Consulate. I called VFS for an update, but dint get anything from them except their standard reply: "Its under process". It s been around 30 calendar days for me now. The wait game is on.

2) A Letter from the personnel department at the US job site stating that there is a vacancy for you.

My apartment, car needs monthly rent, EMI and so many other bills...its been really hard to understand why this process takes so long...
How long one needs to wait and keep paying for your US asset seating here?
I am working from here as my client is very supportive still we all (me and my family) are struggling to go through this phase.

After getting blue form twice i got a reply from USinfo helpline as follows,

As per US consulate please note that based on the documents you submitted to us and the information elicited in your interview with an AMerican consular officer, they were not able to issue you an h1b work visa as the post believes that the petitioner is unable or unwilling to provide qualifying employment and will not be able to maintain the employer employee relationship. Therefore, your application will be soon returned to the Kentucky Consular Center. Once KCC receives a petition, it returns to the approving office of the USCIS for review and possible revocation. Please direct all future inquiries regarding this case to the approving USCIS office.

Can you please explain me what to do ?

Haven't received any kind of updates from Consulate yet.
My client wouldn't allow me to work remotely because of medical devices company..
Working for same client since beginning of 2010 through American staffing company...
Are they really verifying employer-employee relationship in my case????
How long they gonna take to decide whether I am eligible for h1b visa or not.
Only good thing is that my client and employer are very supportive...

This is a difficult situation to be in. You should talk to your attorney and employer about the next step to be taken. Typically cases that go back to USCIS take a very long time to process. You could file a new H1B petition from a new employer but I'm not sure how practical that is

I'm in the same boat as you are. If I knew that it would take this long, I would have packed better! I'm here since November. I came here on a vacation, and got stuck. I have been working on and off from here. My rent, utilities, EMI are going down the drain right now.
