I think you misunderstood me. I came to india in the month of Febuary for 3 weeks vacation and since visa stamp was expired i have to take stamping to enter United states. As a result of my appointment i got 221g as a gift from cosulate. My H1b work permit was valid till May 2012 but till now i did not get any update from US consulate. One good thing which did was... I applied for an extension before i came to India. USCIS approved my extension and now i am not sure whether i should schedule one more appointment or not becoz the appoitment which i booked was for OLD h1b which got expired but still no update on 221g Administrative process from US consulate.

I hope now it is clear.

bro .. the expired workpermit . [ u mean expired h1b ? ] ..either ways you need to be smart here you cannot comeback coz the customs/immgration at the states may cause a issue so the best this [ if u applying for h1b again -- h1b extension ] is to premium process ur visa app and once approved get another appoint out however this time take ur old documents with you [ include paper work that you have already submitted for previous 221g ] and the new documents . <--- only holds true if you are on h1b ...

did u get any mail from US consulate side abt submit the passport ?
and
did they sent you any msg in ur mobile for submit the passport..? how did u know and which way they informed you..?

and there is another way to track our status ..
in mumbai consulate.gov site under.. visa.

there is case status report.pdf file is ther..so thr also can we check our status..
for who got blue form..? pls let me know

for my case..
i had attended the interview on 19-dec-2012 and got blu2 221g form
after that i had submitted the all docs what they had asked on 20-jan-2012
and after that i got mail from mumbai consulate .
like
submit the photos of work location on 12-apr-2012 and i had submitted on 3-may-2012..
still waiting for reply..from US consulate.

I am waiting since december too. Hoping to see positive result soon. This wait is going crazy. Saw multiple guys from December batch getting cleared. Not sure whether the wait is longer for me since I have EVC model. I do have two vendors in between. E-V-V-C. What is your model?

I think when they go for 221G, they also look at the immigration background of the candidate. Sought help from Senator's office and they received the same response. Cant believe it !!! It seems they dont share any information with anyone....what can be so confidential/Secret?

And so far 9 of the 11 ppl have received their visa after submitting the visa documentation. So do not worry and once you get ur approval i need a partyyyyy

I agree with all that is being said ....security, transparency and blah blah...Q is why not earlier ..y now..
when I have to pay for my apartment rent, med ins, car ins and all other expenses...

Had this been the case when I had applied for H1B or extension then I think it would make sense. After THEY have given me the approval to make me go through this ordeal is like slow death.

true ..i agree with that though if they where to do the checks they should have done it right and comprehensivelly in the first place and i did tell my lawyer about the same thing. And here is what the lawyer " reputed immigration attorney - NYC " told me .. they said here we are dealing with 2 different us government entities .. uscis is different from us consulate .. the consulate is a state owned enterprise and is primarily responsible for security and when you have 2 major government entities working togeather you will always have a delay [ back and forth ] etc. Although this was not a morale booster for me but we really cannot do much. My family is stuck there in the us .. for over 2 months .. my savings will not last more than 3 more months [ keeping in mind i pay for 2 cars , utilities , ins for 3 ppl , attorney fees, day to day expenses and apartment rent etc ].

Therefore I feel your pain bro. its just that we are now so americanised that we cannot think of staying back in india if given a choice .....hence the hope ...... i work for a major isp and the technology i work on is not even available here in india. let alone my hardwork of 6-7 yrs is all at stake .

Just got a update from my company today that they are terminating my project by june end if i fail to show up there by the 20th of this month.

Nothing changes here except the margin of billing is chopped off at the 3 different tiers . You still work as a consultant representing the employer [ staffing firm ] for the client [ either inhouse or at the employers location ] . if you have documents to prove contracts between these companies you should be good .

contract or statement of work/understanding <-- is needed when u submit ur paper work which would include contract for all tiers .

3) v2 <> C -- contract /sow and lastly
4) E and your -- contract or offer letter

Awaiting my Passport

Hi All,

I had submitted my passport on 24th May 2012 to VFS, i am yet to receive the same. Just wanted to know from guys who have received their stamped passport as to what was the content of the email received from Mumbai consulate when they were asked to submit their passport?

Do they send a mail, that they have sent the passport to VFS for delivery? how will i come to know it has been processed?

The Interview Appointment letter has a number where you can sms and find the status of your passport.

The sms status is the same status that is available on vfs website. The status has not been updated since my interview date (from the date i received 221g form).
