221 g blue slip. Waiting for passport

Wanted to share my experience with everyone

Got a 221 g blue slip @ Mumbai for first time H1 B

Interview date : 9 december 2011
Submitted documents: 17 december 2011
Got an email from consulate to submit my passport : 28th December 2011
Sumbitted passport at VFS office : 28th December 2011

I am still waiting for my passport. I am not sure how long this will take. Any ideas?

Congrats !!!

Its good that you got the email earlier. Might take a few days to get your passport back according to other reviews.

I submitted my Docs at VFS on 22nd December, but still no email.
Can you tell me what documents you needed to submit, just to get an idea for my case.

Got an email from consulate to submit my passport : 9th January 2011
Tomorrow 10th January I am goin to submit my passport to vfs office.

Now I am not sure how long this will take to get my passport stamped back.

Guys please share your ideas.

after how many days, u guys got ur passport back with visa stamp,,,,any ideas ..please share ur experience..


any other documents are required while submission of passport to vfs bcz i already submittted required documents to vfs first time only.

after submission of passport, didi u get any email that ur passport is ready for delivered..

Congratulations to you all who received stamping or email to submit passport.
I submitted documents on 15th Dec. still no reply. Whenever i call vfs helpline they say its under processing.
i came for a vacation after 4 years and now got stuck here.my daughters school has reopened and she is still here.
Anyone know why my case is taking long time. I have E -C model and submitted all client documents, technical description of projects, employment letters and petitions papers.

@jury777 - I had to submit photos for my office (i submitted around 18), company financials and tax returns for last 2 years, my tax returns for last 2 years, my salary slips for 2011, letter from company stating that there is a vacancy for me, letter with technical details for the project that I will be working on...

I work directly for a product company and not at the client location.

I'd like to share my exp with the folks.

int date - Nov. 29th 2011

VO said visa approved no slips given

processing complete - Jan. 6th. 2012

All this while, there was no useful update from the consulate. The only status was 'under processing' on vfs site. Emailing and calling vfs was futile. Called DOS and got the same response. Finally, the status on VFS was updated to collect the passport. Received the passport with stamped visa.

After 16 working days I got reply but now they asked me to submit paystubs which I am submitting today. God knows how long this will take now.
Any such cases? Will i get email in 3-4 days to submit passport?

Hello all,

I would appreciate response from people who have been waiting for more than a month.

It can put things into perspective regarding waiting time on 221g for Mumbai Consulate.

date of submission of passport : 28th dec
Received passport on : 10 Jan

I hope everyone gets their visa ASAP too....

@h1blueslip: when did you submit the documents at VFS?

I submitted mine of Dec13th, but still no updates. I am regularly checking VFS and Mumbai US consulate websites for updates.

Congrats h1blueslip .... I have submitted my passport today only. Let us see when I receive my passport back. I had to submit my old and new passport both.

Let us all start a new thread where we can post the time taken to receive the stamped visa.
