  • Got Yellow 221g - No docs asked - New Delhi. HELP!!!!

Last week, I got 221g Yellow slip while going for H1 renewal stamping. I was not asked any documents but was asked "Who does my performance appraisal" and "whether my company manager also works on the client site". The VO asked me to sign a document that recorded my answers to the above questions, kept my 797 original and said "we will need re-verification with Homeland Security". I have no idea what that means and I was not asked any documents.

Please advise. Has anyone before encountered this before where a VO asks you to sign a document with your answers? I will appreciate any inputs here.

Has anybody got their yellow 221g cleared in less than 4 weeks here?

    Something Similar happened with me.

VO asked who is your manager and if he works at the same place... Otherwise interview went well.
He took my Passport and All documents given by Employer .... and said they need to verify my documents..
But he did not give me any slip Later I contacted VFS they confirmed it has gone in to Admin Processing 221 (g)

    It's been 4 week I haven't heard from Embassy..

Looks like it's has become very common in Delhi Embassy...

Did they ask you to sign any letter statign who does the appraisal and where does the your manager work etc ?

In my case, the VO was keeping the passport first but then she looked at me and gave me back the passport! She took all my H1 petitions and 797s though. Not sure what it means - wish I was a mind reader.

Do you know if the VFS is sending the entire peition back to uscis for re-verification?

I have a case number and am wondering how do I find the status for it?

I asked my employer and he said the VO will contact the employer, verify the project/visa etc and generally get back in 3 to 5 weeks. Not sure what to do here.

Looks like even when we take all the documents, we get the 221g slip.

            Did they take your passport?

Is there a way to get back our originals like passport, I-797s from VFS rather than waiting for months?

At least with the original docs in hand, one can apply for a new visa type.

You can request your passport back by writing a letter to the consulate stating that you will return it back when the admin processing gets completed.

VO took my original I-797s - Can i get them back as well OR I need to either withdraw my HI or wait for the admin processing to complete.

                    Thanks in advance!

As per my knowledge, you can only request your passport back. If you withdraw your application, you may get the rest of the documents. If the admin processing is successful, they will return all the original documents (I-797, LCA etc) back. If not, the approval notice will be sent back to USCIS for further review and possible revoke.

A copy of the I-797 is enough to prove that you are CAP counted. You don't need the original if you have intention of not using the petition for a visa stamping or travel.

Had similar experience at Hyd Consulate but with a diff.I work on E-V model and VO asked me to sign a doc that has our conversation. Also,he asked for my original I797,Client Letter & LCA.I requested to give me back the original I797 and he returned it.He did not ask for the passport though. The 221g slip had a tracking no.It's been just 3 days of my intw.

Don't we have any way to raise our voices ??? Is there any way that either Indian Govt or US govt interfere in this and try to get the things correct. Holding the cases for months inspite of providing so much of documentation will have serious impact on ones personal and professional lifes. Is it really ethical to do this way???

I am also h1 holder working in US and planned to go for stamping and just following the forum to know the current situation and makes me feel so bad.

when they really have to check so much on employee -employer clause ..why do they approve petetions and approve extensions in first place. ???
