221g Green slip issued at Chennai consulate

Hey guys,

My wife recently went for her H4 visa interview to Chennai consulate. Her interview was really short (~100 sec.!) and the officer said she will get her visa by mail in ~7 days. Today she got the couriered package with her un-stamped passport and 221g Green slip asking for additional documents (all the items listed under 'From Your Petitioner' and my payslips, bank statements, w2 and tax returns ). Is it common where visa was not issued even after the officer said it will be issued?

What is approximate timeline over its resolution after we submit all the docs? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Yeah! there are cases where the application put on admin processing after a successful visa interview. No one can predict the time that will take for a 221g to get cleared as they are case by case basis. Search and read the similar posts on 221g or admin processing.

Can you please tell if you wife showed all those tax, bank statements to the VO during the interview? Also, do you work at a small to mid consultancy firm ?

My sibling's wife is going for H4 stamping next week and will appreciate your inputs ..........

No...she was never asked for those. All he asked for was if my baby is USC and my I-797, which he returned after a glance. Mine is a pretty big consultancy firm 250+ employees, not sure where to place it small-mid-large!

Dec. 1, 2011 - H4 interview at US Consulate, Chennai, went well and passport retained
Dec. 3, 2011 - Passport received with 221g Green slip and no stamp
Dec. 27, 2011 - Submitted all the required docs to VFS Mumbai
Jan. 11, 2012 - Received letter with request to submit passport and I-797, I-129, LCA
Jan. 12, 2012 - Submitted Passport, 2 passport-size photos and other docs to VFS Mumbai
Jan. 19, 2012 - Passport received with the coveted stamp

Greenslip Chennai

Got my visa approved after receiving 221 g green slip.

Attended interview on Nov 29, got a green slip in Chennai. Asked all the Client info documents.
Droped on documents on Dec 17th.
Got email saying passport is ready to pick up(No information on approved status).
Went tp VFS office for pick up and happy ending.
