Issued Green 221g at Chennai...but was asked to submit Passport along with documents

I received green slip at chennai consulate. They asked me for LCA and original H1B petition in the form.

But unlike other 221g's I have read in the forum, I was asked to submit the passport along with the documents at the dropbox.

Has anybody else received similar form where you submit passport? How long does it take to process this?

I work at a small company in US...but its full time (no clients). I have also done my MS from US.

It is not unusual to ask for the passport along with other documents in 221g. I don't know how many 221g threads you looked at.
No one can predict who long it will take to get the 221g resolved as they are case by case basis.

no reply from the consulate yet...submitted docs on dec 27th.

I had the same issue,Had my interview on 3rd Jan,submitted LCA,I129 on 4th Jan.Got a green slip in the Chennai consulate.Received my passport with stamping on 24th January.
