Documents to Mumbai Consulate

I am currently in US and am waiting for the appointment dates to open for Mumbai, I have a quick question. I read we need to send documents to VFS 3 days in advance. I am planning to ask one of my friend in Mumbai to submit the documents on my behalf.
1. Can I send him all the scanned documents and he takes a copy to submit it. I saw the requirements say about Original Interview Appointment Letter, whats original even I will be printing it after taking an appointment can I send the same copy.
2. Is there any other document that I will need to mail from US, if the original is required ?

He already has original HDFC receipts.

Usually it is the original approval notice (I-797), Original HDFC receipts and the copies of all the other documents. Talk to VFS helpdesk to get more details.

Does not say that 797 has to be submitted along with other documents 3day prior to interview.
