  • H1B Stamping at Singapore Consulate

    Hi,

I am an Indian citizen working in Singapore on Employment Pass for the past 11 months. I have got a US offer and my H1B is approved.

However, my approval notice (I-797) lists the Chennai consulate. I am planning to take up my stamping interview at the Singapore consulate.

Please let me know of your thoughts/experiences at Singapore consulate.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
I have attended my first time H1B visa interview at US consulate in Singapore a few days ago and it was approved. In the interview, the visa officer mainly focused on my job scope, roles and responsibilities and the genuineness of the employer. I think the approval chances are quite high in Singapore compared to our country (India). All through the interview, the visa officer was searching for reasons to give the visa unlike in India, where the visa officers will search for reasons to reject. Please reply if you have any other questions.

Hi, thanks a lot for the info. Can you please let me know if Chennai consulate was the one listed in your I-797 even though you attended in Singapore?

The consulate mentioned in my I-797 is 'Hyderabad'. As you are working in Singapore, you can go to the US consulate in Singapore. And the visa officer didn't really care about the consulate mentioned in the I-797.
