Can approved H1b be transferred?

Hi All,

My H1b was filed 4-5 months back by my current employer in India and I am expecting the approval to come next month. In the meantime, I am travelling on L2 with my spouse to US.

My question is, can the same approval be transferred to some other employer in US? Do I need to inform my current employer regarding the same? Also, do i need to travel back to India to get the same stamped?

Also, do employers in US actually honor such cases? I understand getting a job on H1B is far easier than on L2?

Please share your advice/inputs. Thanks alot in advance.

Any employer can file a cap-exempt H1 petition for you at any time. Only after change of status to H1 is approved, you can join them.
You can also apply for EAD while in L2 status and after you have the EAD you can work with any employer in any job using that EAD.
