  • H1B travel question

    Hi!

I worked for a company X (fulltime job), who is my previous employer and have a H1B stamp on my passport and it is valid till Oct 2012. I moved to a new company(fulltime job) and now have a new H1B visa from my new employer which is good till april 2014.I believe I can go out of US and get back in with that stamp(for my old H1) on my passport if my tavel dates are before Oct 2012.

My question is: I have travel plans to India in 2 months, Can I go to the consulate to get a new stamp, so that I will get my passport stamped till april 2014? If so, would there be anything that I have to be particularly worried about?

    Thanks,
    Venkat

If you want to get the H1B stamped again based on the new H1B petition, you can do that. The previous H1B visa will be cancelled. If the documents are not in order or you work at multiple layers, then you need to be prepared in case you receive a 221g.
