How important is E-verify?

Hello Members,

How E-verify matters to the employee? If the employer does not participate in E-verify program, is it a downfall? Are there any future impacts if I join a employer who does not participate in E-verify? Yours inputs are highly appreciated.

The only case where it matters is for STEM OPT extension for F1 students. Only if they are working for an employer enrolled in E-Verify, the students can get a 17 month extension.
