    Hello All,

I am completing my 6 years of H1-B and travelling back to India next month. My petition is valid until 04/16/2012 ( Monday ). So is it safe to leave on 04/15/2012 ( SUnday ) or is it better to leave earlier. I am asking this because I have heard some people travelling much ahead like 4-7 days earlier than the expiry date. And it seems since it takes time to get updated in the systems and some reasoning like that. Is that correct or is it perfectly ok if I travel on 04/15/2012.

    Please suggest.

    Regards,

You must travel on or before the date when you complete 6 years. Please don't forget to surrender the I94, then only the exit dates will be updated in the systems.

These days, the returning of I-94s back to CBP by the airport officials are all electronic. When their system gets updated should not be your concern. As long as your exit date that get registered is before your I-94 expiry date, you are all good.
