D160 and HDFC VISA fees : Which First?

I have a question with regard to H1B Visa Interview scheduling

Do I need to fill the D160 before I proceed to pay the H1B visa fees at HDFC bank oe both of these are independent activities. In other words can I pay HDFC first and then later fill up D160?

Both are indipendent. You need bar code on HDFC receipt to take appointment. You have to fill DS-160 before taking appointment.
