  • H1B Visa -> Stamping Transfer

    Hi,
    I attended H1B Stamping on 1st week of Jan 2012 @ Toronto US Consulate. On that day i was issued 221g as "administrative process" and all my petition docs were retained by them and the passport was returned to me. But till date i have not receive any update nor any email.
    Now i am supposed to go back in a month to india, i am not sure what should i do.

    Please advise me what should I do in this circumstances, Will the H1b petition docs be transferred to Indian consulate or do I need to collect these docs and then apply for the appointment in india.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Pacchie

    Well, you need to withdraw the visa application by writing a letter to the consulate. You can apply again in India. You need to mention the withdrawal as visa rejection when you fill DS160 again. But before withdrawing the application, check with the consulate to see if there is any progress.

      Thank you shervin for the reply,
      But do i really need to cancel my application, as DS 160 is online so it can also be accessable from india too. Can't i collect my document and then take the appointment in india

        You cannot change the consulate after scheduling the visa appointment. When a consulat is processing your case, you cannot request them to move it to any other consulate or simply attaned for the H1B interview with the same documents at multiple consulates to try your luck. It doesn't work that way. Either wait for the admin process to get complete or withdraw and apply again newly. If you are in doubt, talk to VFS helpdesk in India.
