H1b ext

Hello,

What will be the time period required for an H1b Extension approval. I have my first H1b till Oct 2012, I am thinking about filing for an regular ext in may, is this fine or do i need to do it in premium, please share you thoughts.

It is no different than any other petition. 2 to 3 months in regular without RFE.
You can stay in the US and work even after I-94 expiry if petition is filed (receipt date) anytime before I-94 expiry.
