6yrs on H1B1 visa

Hi, I was on H1 visa from Dec'98 to Feb'05 in US. After 6yrs I am back to India and now working in India.

How long should I wait away from US before entering again? I would like to know when can I apply for H1 petition again. Should I wait 1 full year before I even apply for the petition? Please help me to advise on this.

Technically you need a H1B valid from Feb'06 that means you need to apply 6 months before that and i.e you can apply around Aug 2005. If you are lucky and if there are H1B's available then you can come back to US around Feb '07 otherwise you need to apply around April 2006 for 2007 quota.
