  • Regarding Email from HYD consulate after interview

    Hi All,

Today I appeeared for H1B interview at Hyderabad consulate.

Vo asked me normal questions and later said":
"we will send an email just answer 2 questions and we will issue the visa".

He kept the passport and said thank you.
No slip(blue, green, pink) was issued to me.

I didnt get any email till now.

    What does this mean?
How much time it will take now to issue the visa?

Please put some light if someone has faced the similar situation.Thanks.

    This is not unheard of.
Wait for the email, send them a reminder after a week or so.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

      Thanks for the update kabkaba.

Any idea how much time this may take as I am already delayed due to many reasons before interview?
      Thanks.

No one can really predict the time frame as they are case by case basis.

          email received

          Hello !!!

I received email from consulate. They have asked me generic questions. In the questionnaire there is mention of some questions which is meant for students not for working visa.

Questions like "Who is your US academic advisor ?".

While answering them I am leaving these questions blank.

My question to the form members is:
          1. They have asked for CV and client invitation letter which I have already posted with petition before.
--> Why they are asking me again?

          2. The questions are not so specific and looks more like a pre defined template, which can be sent to student as well as a worker.
--> Why they are asking me again when I already answered them while giving interview.

This seems like my stamping time is extended by asking some question which was already answered.

          What all these mean?
Will I be facing any issues to get the stamped passport?

          Thanks for your time.

You never know what is going on inside the consulate. The VO who took your interview might not be the person who is handling your 221g case. You never know. Anyways, just provide whatever they have asked. If those documents are already with them, then just provide a copy and mention that the original is already with them. If your don't have a copy, then mention that in a cover letter and mention clearly the original is with the consulate. For the questions related to students, you can say N/A. You can also talk to VFS helpdesk in understanding the questions clearly. Be happy that they are processing your case. That is why you have been asked for more details. Provide them and you should be hearing back soon as the admin process is being done in your case. There are cases where people have to wait for months and then they received a letter to provide more info.

Email sent but no case number was mentioned in the mail from consulate

              Thanks Shervin..
I understand that there is no time line. But my case is weird as the mail from consulate says "You must include your passport number and Case Number in the subject line of all e-mails. Your passport and case numbers are both in the subject line of this e-mail."
For me only passport number was mentioned in subject line.

No 221g slip was given to me after interview.

All these unlike things are making me suspicious as I cant even track the status.

As you are a very senior member can you please share if you have seen this happening to some one before:
              1. No case number assigned
              2. No 221g forms
              3. No additional document asked

              Thanks.

Talk to VFS helpdesk and they will be able to help you track your case online by providing your the tracking number. This is common in cases where they VO has mentioned that the visa interview is successful and the visa will be issued, but later the case goes into admin processing.

Can we check stamping ststus with receipt number?

One week passed and there is no reply from consulate regarding the tracking numbber so that i can check he status.

Is it possible to check the status with the H1B petition receipt number(eg. WAC **** **** , the 13 digit number) ?

                  Please reply. Thanks.

No. You need to the 221g case tracking number to track the case status of the visa in the consulate's website.

I tried calling VFS helpdesk but it was always busy..
Should I mail them enquiring status, sending the mail sent by them as reference?
Someone said me its a risk to mail them as they can take this otherwise. Please suggest.

                          Visa Stamping Processing???

Today I called VFS Helpdesk. After taking the passport number as input they said my status is "Visa Stamping Processing" is going on. Then I asked him is it different from admin processing, he said yes.
And when I asked him how much this will take he said he dont have any timeline.

My query is to the senior members.
"If status is visa stamping processing", how much time this may take approximately.

Note: When I received the mail from Consulate, it was mentioned in the mail that my case needs further administrative processing.

                          Please reply.Thanks.

Like the VFS mentioned, no one can predict the time frame. You have to wait for a response from the consulate.
