L1 to H1

I am on L1B and extension is in progress.
1)If mutliple employers file for H1B.One files in COS and other files in consular then what would be my VISA status.Will I be on L1 or H1?

2)if my L1B approval comes and H1B gets filed thru Consular and it gets approved then can I do from L1 to H1 change of status with me being in US itself.

>>> Search and read about the last action rule. You can ignore the petition filed for consular process. If the COS to H1B and L1 extension gets approved, then the last petition that becomes effective will determine your status. It is not advisable to file petition of two different status at the same time. It will cause all kind of status confusions unless the H1B petition is filed for CP.
