    start date?

    Hi,

    I have valid H1B on which I was working since 2006 to March 2011
    I left US in April and since then working in US
    Another company has now filed H1B transfer with PP and requesting me to join on 1st July

    I want to reach us 1 week before start date and get settled like finding apartment and other stuff (company is not providing any relocation benefits)

    Is it legal to do this? Should my employment start date same as the day I landed in US

    Technically it should be the same day. If the petition start date is in the future, you are allowed to travel up to 10 days before the petition start date. Even otherwise, maximum 10 days gap is fine, but no more.
