  • H1B Extension

    Hi,

I had given my H1B interview in Jan 2012. My visa was approved for only year(not sure why). It expires on Oct 19th 2012. I am planning to travel in last week of June. How I can extend my stay in US beyond Oct 19th? Using I94 extension? Are there any chance that I may face trouble from immigration once I land in US? If so, any better way to convince immigration?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Either the petition is expiring on Oct 19, 2012 or less likely reason is that your passport is expiring on that date.
Your employer can certainly file an extension before the current petition expires.
Assuming it has been a long time after petition approval and Visa issuance, you should carry a current dated employer letter to show that the job still exists for you.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
