  • Filed H1B and does it require to apply for EAD Extension in Aug?

    Hi,

    I have a Valid EAD which expires on Nov 2012 .Now My Employer has Filed H1 B for me on June 1st, 2012 and I need to wait for a maximum of 6 months to know the status of my H1B approval.In the mean time do i need to renew My EAD on August 2012 to get my EAD extension or else can I wait for 6 months to get my H1 approval without extending my EAD.In case if my H1B gets rejected, can I apply for EAD extension after that? And Will my H1B rejection affect my EAD extension? Please advise.

    Thanks in advance.

    >>> Why do you have to wait for 6 months to get to know the status? It takes 2-4 months by normal process and 15 days by premium.

    In the mean time do i need to renew My EAD on August 2012 to get my EAD extension or else can I wait for 6 months to get my H1 approval without extending my EAD.
    >>> It is up to you. You can wait to see what happens with your H1B application and file the EAD later.

    In case if my H1B gets rejected, can I apply for EAD extension after that?
    >>> Yes. You cannot work when teh current EAD has expired until you get the EAD renewed.

    And Will my H1B rejection affect my EAD extension?
    >>> No.
