I 140 approved, got only one year H1 extension

Applied H1 extension beyond 6 years extension, got olny one year extension. I 140 approved 8 months ago. Is there any way to get 3 year extension. My friend suggested, apply for ammendment and you will get 3 year extension. Kindly help me on this issue and let me know what is the procedure to get 3 year extension.

There is no rule that 3 year extension should be approved if there is an approved I-140. Extension will be issued only for the duration of work itinerary shown by your employer. If you work for a consulting company, then getting a 1 year extension is pretty common these days. You can file the extension again when the current I-94 is about to expire. Extension can be filed 6 months prior to the I-94 expiry date.
